Going Postal does a lot of stuff right (good script, great cast.) and didn't have any major faults. Hogfather was good, but it could have done with a bigger budget, and Colour of Magic/The Light Fantastic have their weaknesses in book form and the movie didn't really make up for that (and I didn't agree with some of the casting choices). Overall, this is my favorite Discworld adaptation so far. And of course, Sir Terry himself has a cameo appearance.

Miss Cripslock (Tamsin Greig), Groat (Andrew Sachs) and Stanley were pretty much spot on. He was a bit too stereotype villain, dressed all in black and his parrot was missing. Reacher Gilt probably deviated most from his description in the book, or perhaps I just always imagined him as a bit more colourful character. Charles Dance did a solid job as Vetinari, but I'd still favor some other actors in the role (Alan Rickman for example would be great). Richard Coyle was very good as Moist and Claire Foy was absolutely brilliant as Adora Dearheart. I still think the golems and especially the banshee were a bit rubbish, but overall the costume and set designers did a great job (There are a lot of little details, that only someone who has read the books would spot). (The postal services reading and sorting machines might need this space to. When mailing an envelope or postcard, leave at least the bottom 16 millimeters (5/8 inch) blank on both front and back. The fact that they didn't need as many special effects as in Hogfather or Colour of Magic probably did the movie a lot of good, since those first two movies seemed a bit cheaply made at times. such as postal rates to (or from) the United States, finding United States addresses, United States postcodes, etc. So, did anyone watch it? I just finished the second part and really liked it.
